Tips and Techniques: Shabby Chic Favor Tins

This charming favor idea from Stampington & Company is a sweet way to express your love to friends and family this Valentine’s Day and can also be reused for future occasions that require a special gift or romantic touch. Dressing up some mini tins and filling them to the brim with yummy treats is a sweet way to show the special people in your life that you truly love and appreciate them.

INSTRUCTIONS

- - - - - - - - - - - - - -

Begin by giving the tinsa light sanding with sandpaper. This scratchy surface with allow paint to adhere better.

Paint the outside of the tins with pink acrylic paint and allow to dry.

Then paint roughly over some of the pink with crackle paint and set to dry.

Applying a thin coat of paint will allow for faster drying.

To avoid the paints chipping off, cover the outside with a thin coat of collage pauge to seal and protect it.

Add some small torn strips of vintage French book text to the lid.

Layer over some shabby ribbons and secure a button in the middle of the ribbon.

Cut out your favorite clip art words and adhere them to the lids.

Place some white tissue inside the tins, and then fill with treats.

I’vealways loved creating beautiful things but I’ve only discovered my love forpaper crafting last year in 2011 when I left my ten-year career as a brand marketerto be a stay-at-home-mum. My boy inspired me to start scrapping so I canpreserve his precious growing moments. It’s so amazing how scrapping canbring memories to life and really enhance the mood of the moment.

Nextto scrapping layouts, I enjoy creating cards and gifts. Some of my favouritetechniques are distressing, misting and layering. I love adding flowers, pearlsand glitter for that glam touch. There are endless resources andmotivations out there and we can draw inspirations and ideas from anyone andanything. I believe one’s creativity is only limited by the boundaries of one’sown imagination so we should constantly challenge ourselves.

Atrue bibliophile at heart and a shameless foodie, when I’m not busy crafting,you will find me immersed in a book or trying out new food with the hubs.

In order for your shipment not to be delayed, please quote your order number on the fax before sending it over to assist us to match the payments efficiently and more importantly correctly.

You may find this difficult to believe, but there are days where we receive similar amounts of payments and orders by different buyers.

Making Memories is excited to announce our merger with ANW/Crestwood, Inc., the parent company of The Paper Company, Creativity Works, and TPC Studios.

As a result, Making Memories will continue to leverage its brand by maintaining all creative, marketing and product development functions.

This merger will allow Making Memories to refocus its energies on creating products in the scrapbooking, paper crafting, embellishment and creative tools business as well as its ongoing creative technology business under its Slice Brand in the papercrafting and fabric industries.

ANW/Crestwood president Mark Caliguire stated, “We will make sure that the creative energy and talent contained in the Making Memories team will be supported by the resources of ANW/Crestwood, but they will also have the independence to grow and develop product categories and brands. We believe it is critical that our companies can draw on the team where needed, but also have the freedom to go in complementary directions.”

Looking ahead, you can expect to see trend-forward products to be released at CHA.
